Bhubaneswar: Since the enforcement of amended Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act) 2019 on September 1, nearly nine lakh people have applied for Learning Licence (LL) in Odisha in the last three months.
Commerce & Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera told the Assembly that as many as 8,89,093 persons have applied for LL in the State as on November 24, 2019 since enforcement of new motor vehicle Act.
In a written reply to a question from BJD MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, the Transport Minister said that out of the 8,89,093 persons have applied for Learning Licence (LL), 5,25,968 have been issued with LLs.
Besides, out of 1,44,675 applicants for Driving Licence (DL), 95,266 have been issued with DLs, he said.
A total of 63,027 persons have applied for issue of LL in Bhubaneswar RTO-1 and out of them 45,351 have been issued with LL, the Minister told the House.
As many as 12,545 persons have applied for DL at RTO-1 Bhubaneswar out of which 8,102 have been issued DLs, he stated.
As many as 31,637 persons have applied for LL at RTO-II Bhubaneswar, out of them 24,978 have been issued with LLs, while out of 7,109 who have applied for DL, 5,505 have been issued with DLs, he further stated.
