Bhubaneswar: With the addition of the new species of animals received from Aizwal Zoo, the number of species in Nandankanan Zoological Park has risen to 163. The Nandankanan Zoological Park received one pair of Hoolock Gibbon, one pair of Pig tailed macaque, and one Himalayan Black Bear yesterday. The Pig tailed macaque is a new species added to the collection of Nandankanan. The new animals arrived in Bhubaneswar yesterday under an exchange program with the Aizwal Zoo. According to the Zoo authorities, the new animals will be kept in quarantine for one month before being allowed for public view as per the Central Zoo Authority guidelines. A pair of tigers was sent to Aizwal Zoological Park in March this year under the exchange program.
