Bhubaneswar: India’s leading weekly news magazine India Today has lauded the strong leadership of Odisha’s most popular and longest serving Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
“Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, has evolved his own brand of politics, which we might refer to as The Naveen Patnaik Model. This can be ascribed to his efforts to make Odisha a disaster management model, as well as his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, among other things”, India Today explained in its programme ‘Nothing But The Truth’.
Naveen Patnaik is in his fifth consecutive term as Chief Minister of Odisha. In all these 22 years, he has brought a unique brand of politics. When Naveen became the Chief Minister, Odisha was one of the poorest states in the country. The poverty level in Odisha was over 50% and the rice production was so low that the State had to go to begging bowl to other States including Haryana and Punjab to get rice from them. Naveen Patnaik first focused on agriculture and transformed the farming community with various programs.
Today Odisha is not only one of the leading producers of rice, it also experts rice to other states. Apart from the farmers, Naveen Patnaik focused on the women and formed self help groups and funded them that empowered women. And along with it he created women leadership at the Panchayat level. Naveen Patnaik also focused on the development of tribals and set a benchmark in natural disaster management, India Today explained.
In the episode of ‘Nothing but the Truth’, the magazine explains why other leaders should emulate the Naveen Patnaik model of management.
