Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today distributed financial assistance to 41.85 lakh landless farmers under KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) Yojana on the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai, the harvesting festival of Odisha.
A total amount of Rs 869 crore has been disbursed to the landless farmers of the state under the scheme. The farmers received Rs 2000 each.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that KALIA Yojana is the best scheme in the country. It has created hopes and confidence among the small and marginal farmers. It is also helping to protect the livelihoods of the landless farmers, he said.
The Chief Minister said, “You are all worried because of the current flood. I want to say, I am with you all the time. I have ordered to make a damage assessment and give the report as soon as possible. You will be provided assistance for crop damage soon”.
Notably, the CM had provided KALIA assistance worth more than Rs 800 crore on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya last May.
