Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his happiness as President Droupadi Murmu has released the Odia translation of technical books for the benefits of Odia students pursuing technical education.
In technical education, introduction of Odia language as a medium of instruction has to be complemented with the availability of books and other study materials. Now the initiative of All India Council for Technical Education in this regard is highly appreciated, the CM said.
Naveen said, “I am happy to know that AICTE has made the Odia translated version of the original books available for first year studies of both B. Tech and Diploma in engineering courses. I hope books for rest of the courses will also be prepared soon”.
The Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology, New Delhi has also published Glossary of Technical Terminology in Odia language in 3 Volumes covering approximately 50 thousand terminologies. This is a welcome step and will definitely help the Engineering students in understanding the concepts of Technical terms in Odia language and its usage, the CM said.
The AICTE, in its initiative to introduce technical education in regional languages, has developed the portal e-KUMBH which is also being launched today. The students across the country will benefit from this portal, he said.
Naveen said, “The State Government has taken a number of steps for promotion of Odia language and literature. Recently, Odia language has been added as a medium of examination of Odisha Civil Services to enable the students to appear the exams in their mother tongue. Besides, my Government has instituted special scholarships for students both at school and college levels for outstanding performance in Odia language. This will go a long way in popularising Odia language”.
The Odisha Government will provide all support to AICTE and CSTT in their future endeavour, the CM said.
