Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the much-awaited Anandapur barrage in Keonjhar district.
During his visit to the Anandapur sub division on Friday, the Chief Minister inaugurated the barrage to boost agriculture activities in the district.
Developed at the cost of Rs 475 crore over Baitarani River, the Anandapur barrage will not only cater to the irrigation needs of the farmers of Keonjhar district but also meet water requirement of Balasore district for agriculture production.
The barrage will provide irrigation to nearly 60,000 hectares of cultivable land in several blocks in the two districts.
The blocks in Keonjhar district that are expected to get immense benefits from the barrage include Anandapur, Hatadihi and Ghasipura.
Similarly, Khaira, Oupada, Nilagiri, Baleshwar Sadar, Bahanaga, Remuna and Soro blocks in Balasore district will be benefited from the newly-inaugurated barrage.
