Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the disbursal of special financial assistance for the construction workers of the State.
As part of this, an amount of Rs 385 Crore will be transferred to the accounts of 26 lakh construction workers registered under the Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board. Each worker is paid Rs 1500 which is directly transferred to their bank accounts.
This comes as a huge relief for the workers who are making their both ends meet due to the pandemic. Earlier in June this year, the Chief Minister had announced Rs 1690 crore Covid-19 assistance package for landless farmers, construction workers, MNREGA workers, particularly vulnerable tribal groups, SC/ST students and physically handicapped students.
