Naveen Launches Chief Ministers’ Award For Education; Rs 100 Crore to Be Spent Annually To Reward 50K Students

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the Chief Ministers’ Award for Education that aims to encourage healthy competition between the various schools of the state and recognize excellence in education.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the State Level Children’s Day Celebrations, Naveen said an amount of Rs 100 crore will be spent starting from this academic year to award more than fifty thousand students, staff and others of the 5T Transformed Schools and other schools.

Under this, those achieving excellence in education, including students, educational institutions, principals, teachers, Sarpanches, school management committees and alumni will be awarded a total amount of Rs 100 crores per year.

The awards will be given at the Block, District and State level. Fifty thousand students, 1500 headmasters, teachers and school management committees, Sarapanches and alumni will be given this award.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also launched the launching of Digilocker system for Council of Higher Secondary Education and Board of Secondary Education. Students’ certificates, mark sheets and other documents can be safely stored in this virtual locker and will also be easily accessible. There will be no chance of theft or loss to them.

Addressing the students, the Chief Minister gave three important advice. First – the call of time. He said time is most important for the students. Doing the right thing at the right time, the students will always excel. The Chief Minister advised that now is the time for children to acquire knowledge and create their own identity by excelling in all fields, including sports, dance and music.

The second advise was – change is inevitable. The Chief Minister said that one has to move forward with time and accept the change. Advising them to be ready to face the call of time, Naveen said that the main aim of the 5T Transformation is to prepare children to face the call of time. He advised them to develop scientific temperament.

In the third, he explained to the children about responsibility and asked them to never forget their responsibility and respect those who have contributed to building their lives such as teachers, family members, their village and their school. On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented awards to the meritorious students, launched a coffee table book, a magazine and Mo School newsletter.
