Naveen Prays for Peace, Prosperity on Devasnana Purnima

Bhubaneswar: The Devasnana Purnima or Snan Purnima rituals of Lord Jagannath and His Divine siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are being observed with much great pomp and gaiety in the presence of devotees in the pilgrim city of Puri after the gap of two years.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik prayed before the Lord Jagannath for the peace and prosperity of the people of the State.

In a Twitter post, the Chief Minister shared mesmerizing images of the Snana Purnima rituals of deities.

The Snana Purnima rituals mark the beginning of the world famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.

After the Snana Yatra, the deities will be kept away from public view for 15 days and this temporary disappearance is called the ‘Anasara’ period. It is said that after the ritualistic bath, the deities develop fever and therefore do not return to the sanctum sanctorum.
