Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today received and welcomed the students who returned from the war-torn Ukraine and interacted with them and their parents at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
As many as 77 students today returned to Odisha from Delhi who were earlier evacuated from Ukraine with the help of Odisha Government.
The Chief Minister received the students and had an interaction with them and their parents regarding their evacuation and the facilities extended by the government of Odisha.
The Odisha government has made special arrangements for bringing back Odia students stranded in Ukraine due to the war.
Earlier on the 1st of this month, Naveen had interacted in a video call with some of the students who had returned to the country with the help of the Odisha Government.
The CM had sought urgent intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the ministries concerned to enable and facilitate continuance of their studies in the medical colleges in India from the stage from where their studies in Ukraine got disrupted.
The CM wrote a letter to the Prime Minister in this regard on Sunday.
Naveen said a large number of medical students from Odisha and other parts of India had to return back home due to war in Ukraine.
