Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will review the State’s preparedness for cyclonic storm ‘Gulab’, which is likely to make landfall by midnight.
The Chief Minister will review cyclone preparedness through virtual mode today at 11.30 am from New Delhi.
The Chief Minister, who is in New Delhi to attend a meet on Left-Wing Extremism convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will hold discussions with senior officials about the preparedness in the State in view of the impending cyclonic storm.
The cyclonic storm is likely to move nearly westwards and cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur around mid-night of September 26.
Several parts of southern Odisha are experiencing light to moderate rainfall activities since early morning today, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase gradually as the cyclonic storm will near the coast, the IMD said.
The ‘Red Warning’ has been issued for seven districts of Odisha- Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri. All these districts will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. The alert will remain valid till morning hours of September 27, as per an IMD bulletin.
