Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday visited the gosala managed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Jamukoli area of Jatni.
The Chief Minister personally took stock of the facilities for the wellbeing of cows at the gosala.
The CM urged the staff to take proper care of the cows at the gosala.
During his visit, the CM reviewed various arrangements for the cows at the gosala, the feed being given and also fed fruits and vegetables to the cows.
On seeing a newborn calf, the Chief Minister asked about its name. When he came to know that it has not been given a name, the CM named it Krishna.
Notably, the BMC has built the gosala at Jamukoli on a 5.5 acre piece of land in 2018. There is a plan to expand it to 20.5 acre.
Currently, there are 906 cows in the gosala. Mostly stray cattle moving around in the city streets are kept here.
Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian also visited the gosala with the Chief Minister.
BMC Mayor, MLA Bhubaneswar (North), former MLA and BMC Commissioner among others were present at the gosala during the Chief Minister’s visit.
