Bhubaneswar: Kartikeswar Padhy, retired assistant engineer and Pramod Kumar Sethy, junior engineer in Bhapur Block of Nayagarh district were sentenced to three years imprisonment for misappropriating government fund.
The engineers, who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for misappropriating Govt. money by executing sub-standard CC road works under Bhapur Block in Nayagarh district under FDR Scheme during 2008-09, were convicted by Additional Special Judge, Vigilance-cum-ADJ-3, Bhubaneswar.
The Court sentenced both the convicts to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.20,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more each for the offence.
The Court further sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months and to pay fine of Rs.5,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more each for the offence U/s 120-B IPC.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Kartikeswar Padhy and dismissal of Pramod Kumar Sethy following their conviction.
