Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold at World Athletics Championships; Odisha Lad Kishore Jena Improves His Personal Best to 84.77 Meters

New Delhi: Bringing laurels to the nation and adding another feather to his cap of successes, India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has won the Gold Medal at the World Athletics Championships 2023 held at Budapest. With this, he has become the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships. He won the Gold Medal with the winning throw of 88.17 meters in the finals of the men’s javelin.

Adding to the success of Neeraj Chopra, Odisha lad Kishore Jena also performed his career best and stood at the fifth position. He threw his personal best of 84.77 in the final round of the Championships. DP Manu stood sixth in the finals with a tremendous throw of 84.14 meters. This is for the first time in the history that three athletes from India competed in the finals and finished in the top six in the World Athletic Championships.
