Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s inclusive urban sanitation model has evinced keen interest not only among the Indian States but also among neighboring south Asian countries.
To learn about Odisha’s this model, a high level delegation from Nepal visited the State from November 28 to 30.
The 30-member team consisting of policymakers, senior officials, Mayors, practitioners from the Govt.of Nepal along with experts from UN Habitat, World Bank and faculties from the ASCI, Hyderabad gained knowledge about the decentralized and community-led urban sanitation model of the State.
The team was on an exposure-cum-learning visit to Odisha on City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation.
The Nepal delegation learnt about the enabling policy framework, structural reforms, inclusive approach and cost-effective technology-driven solutions adopted by Odisha.
The Team also visited solid and liquid waste treatment facilities in Bhubaneswar and Puri and interacted with Mission Shakti SHGs and transgender group in charge of its management.
The participants appreciated the Odisha model and presented their action plan to implement the key learning in their country. The three-day visit was organized by the Odisha Water Academy (OWA), H&UD Department
