Bhubaneswar: Scripting a new chapter in the history of education in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik distributed appointment letters to 6131 teachers at an orientation programme held at the Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday.
The appointment of new teachers took place just days after the successful completion of the first phase of the 5T High Schools Transformation program with the dedication of 1075 schools.
Addressing the orientation programme for the newly-recruited teachers, the Chief Minister said that education is a reflection of the collective hopes and aspirations of the society.
Describing teachers a soul of the educational system, the Chief Minister insisted them to play their role constructively in the transformative initiative for the future generation and new Odisha.
He further said that the teachers play a vital role in instilling new hopes in students, empowering their imagination, and engaging in learning, and urged the teachers to work for the development of creativity and confidence in the students.
Speaking about the High School Transformation Programme, the Chief Minister said that his government has taken several steps to create a pleasant atmosphere for education in schools. The infrastructure of various schools has been transformed into smart classrooms, e-libraries, modern laboratories, hygienic toilets and playgrounds.
The teachers have been appointed within 47 days. The teachers include 2236 arts teacher, 1779 science teachers, 829 Hindi teachers, 796 Sanskrit and PET teachers and 3 Telgu teachers, according to an official release.
