Bhubaneswar: A new security camp has been established at Kolampada village under Gochhapada PS area in Kandhamal district.
The COB Kolampada under the responsibility of 99 Battalion BSF under SHQ Koraput was inaugurated by the troops of ‘E’- Coy at Kolampada, a highly Maoist infested area near OD-CG border under Koirimandu GP in the presence of Sanjeev Kumar, Commandant, 99 Battalion BSF, Suvendhu Kumar Patra, SP Kandhama, Rohit Kumar, SDPO, Baliguda, Bharat Singh Pal, (DC/QM), 99 Battalion, BSF, Gaurav Kumar, AC, 99 Battalion BSF and Inspector Jitendra Kumar and Madhav Kanhar, Sarapanch of GP Koirimandu.
One company of BSF and 1 unit of SOG will guard the camp to neutralize the Maoist activities in that area.
The people of Kolampada village welcomed the security forces with sp kandhamal, sdpo baliguda and commanding officer bsf in tribal dance and music, lighted fire in the effigies of Maoists. A token was presented to the villagers in the form of blankets, sarees, playing instruments, music instruments, schooling articles to the children. A health camp was conducted in the new camp. A community feast was conducted among the villagers. Villagers inaugurated the Camp with national flag hoisting.
The Kandhamal SP said that after the establishment of COB Kolampada, the welfare programs of the Government will reach to locals of Kolampada and nearby villages with the help of BSF.
The presence of BSF will facilitate establishing peace in the area. The new COB would facilitate the operations of SFs more effectively in this region to tackle Maoist problems.
