Bhubaneswar: Beware vehicle owners who have not yet changed their old registration plates into new High Security Registration Plates. The State Transport Department is going to impose hefty fines from today on vehicles plying without HSRPs. A special drive has been launched from today to check the violators. According to official data, a total of 40,93,608 vehicle owners have booked slots for the HSRP till 7th June, 2023. Out of these, HSPRs have been fixed in 35,87,577 vehicles. The RTA is will impose fines anywhere between Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 under Section 192 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. E-challans will be issued to the non-compliant vehicle owners.
