Bhubaneswar: Accusing opposition parties of spreading lies on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union Home Minister Amit Shah today asserted that the Muslims will not lose their citizenship because of the new law.
Addressing a pro-CAA rally at Janata Maidan here after chairing the 24th Eastern Zonal Council meeting, Shah said, “I want to reiterate that CAA is not going to take away citizenship of even one Muslim, even single member of the minority”.
CAA is a law to grant citizenship and not for snatching it away, he said.
Coming down heavily on the opposition parties, the Union Minister said, “The BSP, SP, Communist and Congress and Mamata are against the CAA because they say minorities will lose their citizenship. Why are they lying? CAA is a law to give citizenship, it is not meant to take anyone’s citizenship away.”
Speaking about Odisha, Shah said Odisha is like his second home. Lord Jagannath has blessings on both Odisha and Gujarat, he said.
Odisha always plays a pivotal role in the development of the country, he added.
