Puri: The devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of the Holy Trinity at Puri Srimandir for 4 hours from 7 PM to 11 PM today.
The public darshan has been suspended in view of special rituals of Janmashtami.
Late in the night, birth of Lord Krishna and a complex set of rituals will be observed by servitors in the shrine. The importance of these celebrations is to release Lod Krishna from maternal affection and offer him the joyous experience of motherhood.
Today, the temple’s Mahajans will lead the Janmashtami celebrations, inspired by the divine stories of Devika and Vasudeva.
A symbolic portrayal of birth will be enacted at the eastern gate of the Srimandir in the evening.
