Bhubaneswar: The heat wave conditions continue to paralyse normal life in most of the districts of Odisha. Soaring temperatures are keeping people indoors. More than half of the cities in Odisha have reported temperatures of more than 40 degrees Celsius. The Met Department has warned that the heat wave conditions are likely to prevail till the 16th of this month. The Department has also issued alert for eight districts of Odisha for heat wave conditions. Baripada in Mayurbhanj district reported the highest temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius yesterday.
The Met Department has also issued heat wave alert for seven districts of western Odisha for tomorrow where temperatures will remain between forty to forty five degrees Celsius. The temperatures will be three to five degrees more than normal temperatures in most of the places of Odisha.
Meanwhile, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner has asked the collectors to ensure that workers and manual laborers do not go out and work at construction sites during the peak hours of day time and conduct massive IEC activities at all levels advising people to stay indoors.
