Noted Odia Litterateur Prof Sudarshan Acharya Passes Away

Berhampur: Noted Odia litterateur Prof Sudarshan Acharya has passed away this morning.

He died at his house in Berhampur due to age related issues. He is famous for his vast understanding and knowledge of Odia as well as Sanskrit and Telugu literature.

He was the recipient of the Kendra Sahitya Academy Award in 2006 for Katha Sarita Sagar. He also received the Atibadi Jagganath Das Award in 2006. He has immensely contributed to the field of Odia language as a critic, translator, editor and researcher. As many as 27 books written by him have been published and widely acclaimed. He retired as the Head of the Department of Oriya Language and Literature of Brahmapur University.

A pall of gloom has descended in the literary circles of Odisha due to his sad demise.
