Berhampur: Observance of COVID Week has begun in Odisha’s Ganjam district from today with an aim to make people aware of the importance of social distancing norms and COVID-19 protocols.
With the decrease in the number of COVID cases in the district and with a focus to prevent a possible second wave of infection in the district, the Ganjam administration is organizing a series of awareness generating activities during COVID Week involving various stakeholders, informed Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
On the first day today, all the community stakeholders were administered an oath to take pledge to abide by all COVID guidelines and social distancing norms.
The COVID awareness week will be organized from September 24 to October 1, followed by a closing a closing ceremony and prize distribution on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, the district administration said.
Door to door health screening to identify suspected COVID-19 patients, ramping up of coronavirus tests, awareness rallies will be organised in panchayat level and social distancing and COVID awareness chariots will be moved across the district during the week.
The drives on mask distribution, sanitation, identification of plasma donor would also be carried in the week.
The district administration has also decided to organize health and nutrition webinars, an online competition for school children to mark the observation of the COVID week’.
Ganjam district, which has emerged as the role model in COVID management in Odisha, has now 336 active cases of coronavirus, as per the State Health Department data.
