Odia Jawan Among Five Martyred in Poonch Terror Attack

Bhubaneswar: An Odia jawan from Puri District was martyred in the Poonch terror attack today.

The Jawan has been identified as Debashis Biswal of Khandayata Sahi village of Alagumar Panchayat of Satyabadi in Puri district.

He was one of the five jawans killed in a ghastly terrorist attack in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Debashis is survived by his wife and a seven-month-old baby girl.

Debashis was one of the five soldiers of the Rashtriya Rifles deployed in counterterrorist operations in Poonch. The terrorists attacked and hurled a grenade on the army truck that was going from Bhimber Gali to Sangiot.

According to an Army statement “An Army vehicle moving between Bhimber Gali and Poonch in the Rajouri sector in J-K was fired upon by unidentified terrorists today. The vehicle caught fire, due to the likely use of grenades by terrorists.” “Five personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles Unit deployed for Counter Terrorist operations, in this area, have unfortunately lost their lives in the incident,” it added.
