Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has waived the entertainment tax on the Odia film ‘Delivery Boy’ directed by Aswini Tripathy and produced by Jytharanjan Mohanty.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal in this regard on Monday.
It is worth noting that the role of Delivery Boys has become indispensable in the daily life of urban areas. Usually coming from economically disadvantaged families, the ‘delivery boys’ have very challenging work and life struggles.
The film is based on the stories of such delivery boys. The film, made in Odia language, perfectly depicts how a delivery boy who is a victim of a road accident, fights for justice with the help of his colleagues and wins. Efforts have been made in the film to create awareness about road safety. It is expected to have a positive impact on the audience from all sections of the society.
Earlier, the State Government has lifted entertainment tax on the movie ‘Zwigato’.
The State Government is implementing favorable policies so that more and more commercial films can be shot in Odisha and is also encouraging the film industry in this regard. The Chief Minister expressed hope that this will develop tourism in the State and create employment for talented young women.
