Bhubaneswar: As many as 1480 other state vehicles have been challanned for Rs 2.12 crore in five days for not paying Odisha MV Tax and permit fee, informed the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha today.
Considering the movement of large number of other state buses to Odisha to take back the migrant workers to other states, the STA had instructed the RTOs to undertake special drive against other state buses, good carriage, taxis plying within Odisha without obtaining the permit and not paying the tax to Government of Odisha.
During the special drive from 2″ June to 6th June, the RTOs across the state have raised 1480 challans to other state buses, goods carriage, taxis for an amount of Rs 2.12 crore under Odisha Motor Vehicle Taxation (OMVT) Act and Motor Vehicle Act, the STA said.
About 658 vehicles have been found plying without permits. 70 vehicles have been seized for not paying the tax and penalty as per the challan.
Odisha has made the online system for issue of permit and payment of tax in respect of commercial vehicles of other states visiting Odisha.
Before entering into Odisha, the owners of commercial vehicles of other states must pay the Odisha Tax and obtain permit in online mode to avoid tax, penalty, detention, seizure, it added.
