Odisha: 15 Crore Seedlings Raised under ‘Sabuja Odisha Mission’ Despite COVID Pandemic

Bhubaneswar: Under Sabuja Odisha Mission, 15 Crore seedlings have been raised for plantation and distribution this year as against 5.50 Crore last year, despite Covid pandemic situation, all time high in the history of Forest & Environment Department.

There is target of 5 Crore seedlings for distribution this year out of which about 2 Crore have already been distributed during the current rainy season so far.

As against the plantation achievement of 68,358 hectare during 2019, there is double target of 1.3 Lakhs hectare plantation by our Forest Department during current year.

Due to successful execution of the forest fire prevention and management measures and with immense support of the field functionaries, the number of forest fire incidents have come down to 11,088 nos during 2020 fire season from 19,787 nos in the previous year 2019, Bikram Keshari Arukha, Minister, Forest & Environment expressed.
