Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Transport Department has launched the week-long special drive to check buses and other light vehicles engaged in transporting school students in the State.
On the first day of the drive, the Transport Department officials issued as many as 235 challans.
The State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha informed that of the 235 challans, 173 vehicles were detected without valid a Fitness Certificate while 85 of them did not have permits.
As many as 98 vehicles lack insurance, 51 were detected without a PUC certificate, 25 did not pay tax and 59 of drivers did not even have Driving License. Besides, two buses have been also seized in Rourkela, the STA said.
