Bhubaneswar: Around 7.5 lakh migrant labourers are stranded in different parts of the country and out of it, around 5 lakh are expected to come back to home after the lock down lifted, informed Sanjay Singh, Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department today.
The administration has geared up to welcome them. The migrant labourers have to register themselves with the government and to go for 14 days institutional quarantine before entering to their homes, Singh informed.
Meanwhile, the State government has geared up for such massive influx of migrant labourers. The government has set up makeshift medical camps in each Gram Panchayat and appointed a nodal officer for the COVID -19 management at the panchayat level.
If any migrant labourer develops COVID-19 symptoms, he or she will be shifted to nearest COVID-19 hospital, Singh further informed.
The contact number of the nodal officer of each panchayat will be made available at the public domain. The migrant labourers will have to contact him for any assistance, he added.
Registration of migrant labourers to return home would be start from April 24.
