Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), which has been launched to provide universal health coverage to the people, especially economically vulnerable families, has made significant strides bringing as many as 554 super-speciality hospitals under its ambit.
It has been revealed during an internal review meeting held under the chairmanship of Dr Brundha D, Chief Executive Officer, State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) on Friday.
So far, 554 super-specialty hospitals both within and outside the State have been included in the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. Of these, 103 hospitals are located outside the State, such as Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
Apart from this, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved 29 more specialty hospitals to be included in the scheme. After inclusion of these new hospitals, the total number of registered hospitals will increase to 583.
