Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly today passed the Odisha Hindu Religious Endowments (Amendment) Bill 2019 that excludes the Gobardhan Matha of Puri from the purview of the 1951 Endowments Act.
The Government of Odisha had brought the Bill as the Gobardhan Matha of Puri occupies a special place in Odisha. The Matha is headed by His Holiness H.H. Jagadguru Swami Shri Nischalanada Saraswati popularly known as Jagadguru Shankaracharya.
Law Minister Pratap Jena had introduced the Bill yesterday which was discussed and passed today unanimously by the assembly.
