Odisha Athletes Felicitated for Winning Medals at KIYG 2022

Bhubaneswar: Minister of Sports and Youth Services Tusharkanti Behera, Chairman Hockey Promotion Council of Odisha, Dilip Tirkey and Joint Secretary Sailendra Jena felicitated the medal winning athletes of the State at the Khelo India Youth Games 2022.

The athletes were felicitated in an event held at Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday.

This is for the first time that Odisha has placed itself in the top 10 of KIYG.

A total cash award of Rs 1,85,22,500 was given out to the medal winning athletes. The team and individual sports winners received Rs 1 lakh for the Gold medal, Rs 75,000 for the Silver, and Rs 50,000 for the Bronze.

The Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS) also felicitated ace Para Athlete Jayanti Behera, Pramod Bhagat and ace athlete Sabita Toppo with a cash award of Rs 54 lakh, Rs 27 lakh and Rs 2.92 lakh respectively for outstanding performance in recent past.

“A huge round of applause to our Team of Sports Science, who under the guidance of Dr. PSM Chandran, accompany and assist our athletes at all events providing the necessary on-ground support needed to excel at their game”, the Department said.
