Kendrapara: The Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha’s Kendrapara district will remain closed for the visitors from December 26 to January 4 for the annual census of crocodiles.
“In view of the census of crocodiles, it has been decided that the Bhitarkanika National Park will be closed for tourists from December 26 to January 4”, informed a Forest Division Officer.
The official said that boating by tourists can disturb crocodiles which will subsequently affect the census process, for which entry to the national park has been prohibited.
The census will be conducted in Dangamala, Rajanagar, Mahakalapada and Gahirmatha by teams of Forest Department, sources said.
