New Delhi: Odisha-born IPS officer Basant Rath on Sunday offered his resignation from service to join politics.
The Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS officer said that he is resigning from the Indian Police Service in order to be able to participate in electoral politics.
Taking to Twitter, the suspended IPS officer said, “I wish to resign from the Indian Police Service in order to be able to participate in electoral politics. Please consider this letter as my request for resignation/voluntary retirement and process it accordingly.”
He wrote to the Chief Secretary of J&K and posted the same on Twitter.
As per reports, he is joining politics to contest elections from Kashmir.
