Bhubaneswar: In an aim to bridge the digital gap, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has flagged off a special digital literacy bus ‘World on Wheels’ at secretariat on Saturday.
The bus is designed to travel the rural area of the state to impart elementary training to the school students and rural folk and enable them to have access to the digital world.
This program aims to reach 6,400 Indian villages, impacting more than 15 million people over six years in the country through a public-private partnership model.
The Internet-enabled mobile learning bus aimed at driving digital literacy, education programming, entrepreneurship training, and other community services in rural Odisha.
The 20-seated bus is equipped with computer, printing equipment as well as software suites, and e-learning tools. The digital lab will allow individuals to gain access to information technology literacy which will connect them to different government programs.
This digital project will impart training to our youths in the next five years and will help bridge the digital divide in the state. This project will enhance the skill and capability of people which will lead to better life of rural community.
Apart from computer literacy, it will aware the rural masses on various issues relating to health, education, water, and sanitation. Particularly it will be beneficial for the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts of Odisha.
