Bhubaneswar: Reinforcing its commitment to provide safe drinking water to the people in rural areas, the Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a mega drinking water project in Mahanga block of Cuttack district.
The project, which is said to be the largest drinking water project in the State, will be developed at the cost of Rs 207 crore, informed Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena.
The project is expected to benefit more than 2 lakh people in 211 villages in Cuttack district.
The Odisha Government has set the target to provide all rural households to have access to safe and adequate drinking water within the premises of their house by 2024.
