Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena on Tuesday chaired the 6th State Broadband Committee Meeting-Odisha at Lok Seva Bhavan.
At the meeting, the Annual Implementation Plan submitted on the National Broadband Mission by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India was discussed in detail.
Principal Secretary of Finance, Energy and Electronics and IT Department, Odisha Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Sushil Kumar Lohani, senior officials of DoT and all other members of the committee attended the meeting.
On submission of the Annual Implementation Plan on National Broadband Mission by the Department of Telecommunications, the Chief Secretary opined that there is a need to check the veracity of the data on coverage of telecom connectivity on paper and in actual.
The Chief Secretary suggested advising Collectors & DMs to entrust their field personnel to verify the actual status.
DoT and E & IT Department have been instructed to forward issues in detail relating to mobile towers such as land allocation, road access, forest clearance, local issues etc. to concerned Collectors & DMs for their resolution within the timeline of 15 days and to expedite such issues by conducting VC with District Collectors, SPs and DFOs.
School & Mass Education Department and Health & FW Department to map all of their establishments including Aanganwadis having broadband connectivity on the PM Gati Shakti portal.
To sensitize line Departments/ subordinate offices etc. regarding the use of 5G Use Cases by arranging a one-hour camp and exhibiting demo sessions by Start-ups.
It was decided to issue an executive instruction as regards to mandatory use of the CBuD App by all the asset owner agencies and digging/ excavation agencies to avoid unnecessary damage to public utilities.
It was also suggested by the Chief Secretary to the DoT, Odisha conduct CBuD awareness camps at each district headquarters by including all the engineering personnel.
Chief Secretary advised the Principal Secretary, Energy Department to discuss with DISCOMS and to facilitate the proposal of composite billing for all TSPs/ ISPs/ IPs to avoid difficulties faced by them in clearing the electricity dues in a truncated manner.
The Housing & Urban Development Department is also advised to expedite the process of uploading list of street furniture in the PM Gati Shakti Portal to facilitate the easy installation of small cells for faster internet connectivity.
Keeping in view the forthcoming “Rath-Yatra” festival, COAI and all TSPs/ ISPs have been requested to improve mobile network connectivity by arranging Cell-on-Wheels (CoW) or upgrading the existing infrastructures.
