Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his grief over the loss of lives in the massive fire that broke out at the Covid-19 vaccine producer Serum Institute of India’s (SII) plant in Pune.
“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the tragic fire accident at Serum Institute of India campus. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in the hour of grief and pray for the speedy recovery of those who are hospitalized”, the CM tweeted.

At least five people were killed in the fire accident at SII’s Manjari plant in Pune on Thursday afternoon. Six persons were rescued from the spot.
