The BCCI has appointed former India test opener and former Odisha Ranji team captain Shiv Sunder Das as the batting coach of India women’s cricket team.
He will be joining the Ramesh Powar-led support staff for the England tour in June.
Das played 23 Tests for India between 2000 and 2002. Das, a solid specialist opener for India in Tests, hit 1326 runs, including 2 hundreds. Das has a rich experience of playing in England as he had featured in Divison One during his heydays. Das had also hit a double hundred during a tour game with India in England.
The experience will certainly come in handy when he takes over the batting coaching duties for India women who will be played a Test, 3 ODIs and as many T20Is in England between June 16 and July 15.
