Odisha CM Offers Tributes to Freedom Fighter Chakhi Khuntia on Birth Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his humble tributes to freedom fighter Chakhi Khuntia on his birth anniversary today.

Born on 20 January 1827 in Puri, Chandan Hajuri, popularly known as ‘Chakhi Khuntia’ sacrificed his life for the cause of the freedom of India.

He was actively involved in Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, which was the India’s first war of independence.

Chakhi Khuntia was the advisor to Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi.

On account of his involvement in this first freedom struggle, Chakhi Khuntia was arrested many times and kept behind the bars.
