Odisha CM Pays Tributes to Youngest Freedom Fighter Baji Rout on Birth Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his humble tributes to Baji Rout, the youngest Indian martyr, on his birth anniversary today.

The immortality and heroism of this immortal hero, who died at the age of just 12 years of independence, will always be remembered.

The sacrifice and heroism of Baji Rout, who was martyred at the age of 12 fighting freedom for the country, will always be remembered, the CM tweeted.

Baji Rout was born on 5 October, 1926 in Dhenkanal. Rout, who was a boat boy, was shot by British police when he refused to ferry them across the Brahmani River on the night of 11 October 1938 at Nilakanthapur Ghat, Bhuban, Dhenkanal district.
