Born to a marginal farmer late Japeswar Mallik in tribal-dominated Simbali village, Abhimanyu had completed his matriculation with first division marks.
Despite financial hardship, he obtained a diploma in mechanical engineering from Uma Charan Patnaik Engineering School in Berhampur, completed BTech from Institution of Engineers (India) in Kolkata and got Mtech degree from VelTech University in Chennai.
In 2010, Abhimanyu got a prestigious job at ISRO in Sriharikota after successfully clearing an examination conducted by the space agency.
