Bhubaneswar: In what could be the biggest ever humanitarian effort in supplying medical grade liquid Oxygen, Odisha has successfully sent 559 tankers loaded with more than ten thousand tons of oxygen to eleven states of the country in the last 19 days. This comes at a time when the nation is grappling with oxygen supplies and a large number of deaths reported due to it. The efforts of the Odisha Police for prompt loading, transportation and supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen has borne fruits and saved innumerable lives.
Odisha Police is leaving no stone unturned to help the oxygen tankers reqach safely to their destinations. The Oxygen is being loaded from various industrial units of Rourkela, Anugul, Jajpur and Dhnkanal and sent to the needy states. Till date Odisha has sent Oxygen to eleven states including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
Based on the directives of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a Special Cell was formed under Shri Y K Jethwa, ADG (L&O) as the Nodal Officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen by Odisha to States facing deficit. A Dedicated Corridor has been set up with round the clock monitoring. All District SsP/DCsP and Range DIG/IG/CPs are supervising the movement personally within their jurisdictions.
