Bhubaneswar: Odisha Excise has made record quantity of seizure of liquor bottles inside the premises of a bar.
On receipt of reliable information of violation of licence conditions, Narasingha Bhol Excise Commissioner Odisha deputed the officers of State Flying Squad on 09/02/2024, and surprise raid was made at ABC Restaurant & Bar situated at Mundamba under Jankia Police Station and during search of premises found one Blue colour TATA Intra Good Carrier bearing no. OD 02BK 1166 containing 1192 bottles of different brands and quantities of total 374.4 litres of Foreign Liquor. Further one silver colour Mahindra Bolero Pickup bearing Regd No. OR 02BH 5895 with 250 Cases each case containing 25 bottles of 200 ML each of Country Liquor total 6250 bottles with 1250 litres of Country Liquor was found inside the premises.
The storage of above quantity of Country Liquor and Foreign Liquor couldn’t explained by the authorised agents. The authorised agent Purna Chandra Behera and TapanPattnaik were arrested under section 52(a) of Odisha Excise Act and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of SDJM Khordha. One Serious Irregularity Report has been drawn against the licensee of ABC Restaurant and BAR MunmunBaliarsingh and she has been instructed to keep her part for keeping such huge quantity of unaccounted Country Liquor and Foreign Liquor inside the premises of the BAR. The BAR has been sealed for the purpose of further investigation. A team led by SidheswarBeshra, Superintendent of Excise State Flying Squad and assisted by Dillip Kumar Behera, Roshan Hansda and Hira Dalapati Inspectors of Excise took part in the raid.
The process of taking stringent action against any licensee violating the terms and conditions of Excise laws will be continued. All Superintendent of Excise have been instructed to check the Excise Shops and ensure that the ON shops licensees do not carry out business like OFF Shop licensees and take immediate action against those violating the licence conditions.
