Bhubaneswar: The statewide lockdown in Odisha has been extended till June 17 as a measure to prevent spread of COVID-19.
This has been announced by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra during a media briefing on Sunday.
It is the second extension of the lockdown in the second wave of pandemic.
Earlier, the Odisha Government had announced a lockdown from May 5 to 19 and extended it till June 1.
There shall be complete lockdown throughout the State with effect from 5 am of 1 June, 2021 till 5 am of 17 June. There shall be complete shutdown on weekends.
The lockdown is primarily aimed at restricting movement of persons. However, the movement of goods and goods carriers shall not be affected by the lockdown.
During this period, vaccination shall continue in places as notified by H&FW Department depending upon availability of the vaccine.
