Bhubaneswar: In what could be a great achievement for the authorities fighting against Cyclone Yaas, ten pregnant women who were shifted to the CHCs and PHCs in Jagatsinghpur district have given birth to healthy babies.
As part of the evacuation efforts in the district, the authorities on a priority basis shifted 31 women in their advanced pregnancy to the nearest Community Health Centers and Public Health Centers.
Ten of them gave birth to the babies under medical supervision and doing fine. They have been provided all necessary medications and special care is being given to their food requirement.
Elsewhere, in Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Kendrapada also the district administrations have made special arrangement to safely move pregnant women to safer places such as nearest Hospitals and health centers. Special arrangements have also been made in the Cyclone Shelters. In Dhenkanal, more than 200 pregnant women were identified and moved to safer places.
The authorities have made provisions for clean drinking water, medicines, masks, sanitizers in the multipurpose cyclone shelters.
