Bhubaneswar: Much cheer to the lawyers across the State , the Odisha Advocates’ Welfare Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2020 has been passed in the Odisha Legislative Assembly today.
With this, a welfare fund can be set up for the welfare of the advocates and donation can be accepted from legitimate sources.
The bill will enable the Odisha Advocates’ Welfare Fund Trust Committee to extend assistance to needy lawyers, in case of natural calamity, pandemic or similar situations, the State Government noted.
Earlier in March this year, the Orissa High Court had directed the State Government to consider grant of financial assistance as per the scheme proposed by the State Bar Council.
