Odisha Govt Allows Off-Days in Lieu of Notified Public Holidays for Medical Officers

Bhubaneswar: In order to ensure uniform and transparent system of leave allocation among Medical Officers of OMHS cadre, the Odisha Government has decided to allow off-days in lieu of notified public holidays with the conditions for the medicos.

The OMHS Cadre officer, who attended duty on a designated public holiday(s), has been allowed to avail equal number of alternative off days in the same month subject to availability of adequate HR in the health facility, according to the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Final decision will be taken by the Superintendent to reduce the no. of alternate off-days allowed to an officer in case inadequate availability of HR. Superintendent/MO in charge should prepare roster arrangements for a particular month to ensure coverage of all working hours.

In single doctor medical institutions, the Superintendent/BPHO of the CHC will make such arrangement following the same principle. Alternate off-days cannot be merged with CL/EL.

Alternate off-days admissible in a month cannot be carried forward to the succeeding month, except when public holidays fall in the last week of a month.

The fresh guidelines supercede the prevailing practice of availing weekly off-days, the Health Department stated.
