Odisha Govt Announces Financial Assistance for Kin of Anganwadi/ASHA Workers Who Die on COVID-19 Duty

Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable move, the Odisha Government today announced financial assistance for the spouse or next kin of deceased Anganwadi and ASHA workers, who succumb to COVID-19 in line of duty.

“The spouse/ next of kin of deceased Anganwadi Worker, who succumbs to COVID-19 in line of duty under active deployment by the State authorities, shall continue to receive Rs.7500 only per month till the date he/ she would have attained the age of 60 years had he/ she survived”, the Office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said in an order.

“The spouse/ next of kin of deceased ASHA working under H&FW Department, who succumbs to COVID-19 in line of duty under active deployment by the State authorities, shall continue to receive Rs.5000/- ( Rupees Five Thousand) only per month till the date he/ she would have attained the age of 60 years had he/ she survived”, the order reads.

The Finance Department in consultation with W&CD and Mission Shakti Department, and& H&FW Department will issue detailed guidelines in this regard, it added.
