Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Tuesday appointed chairpersons for 14 Special Development Councils (SDCs).
The appointments have been approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The newly appointment chairpersons are – Angul Dist: Sadasiv Nayak, Balasore: Madan Mohan Majihi, Balangir: Braja Mohan Bisoi, Dhenkanal: Surendra Hembram, Boudh: Bhagaban Kanhar, Jajpur: Lombadhar Munda, Kalahandi: Shivaji Majhi, Nuapada: Bhagatram Majihi, Sambalpur: Sobharam Pradhan, Deogarh: Panjia Bhoi, Bargarh: Susila Bhoi, Jharsuguda: Mohan Kisan, Nayagarh: Janaki Dehuri, Ganjam: Bidyadhar Jani
It is worth noting that since 2017 Special Development Councils were being implemented in 9 districts. Recently, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to expand it to 14 more districts. Through these Councils, steps are being taken to preserve and protect the art, culture and heritage of the tribes.
